Laurie Tugman is currently a Nexterra Board Member as well as a Board Member of Newalta Corporation (NAL) and Pinova Holdings Inc., a $300 million Revenue Specialty Chemical Business with plants in Florida and Georgia. Mr. Tugman has over 30 years' experience in financial and operational management in the environmental compliance, waste management, and oil and gas industries. He was the former President and CEO of Marsulex Inc. which he joined in 1994 as CFO, progressing to COO and then CEO from 2004 until its sale in June 2011. Mr. Tugman graduated with a B.A. from the University of Western Ontario in 1975 and earned his C.A. in 1977. He was elected a Fellow Chartered Accountant in 2011. A member of Financial Executives International (FEI), he served on FEI's Board from 2004 to 2007. He has also served on the Chemistry Industry Assn. of Canada's (CIAC) Board from 2007 to 2011 and was Chairman from 2010 to 2011.

Roderick R. Barrett Roderick R. Barrett, B.Sc., LL.B.

Roderick Barrett is a senior partner in the firm's Corporate Group. He is former Managing Partner of the firm's Toronto office, and a former member of the firm's Executive Committee, Partnership Board and the Toronto Management Committee. He practises business law with an emphasis on private equity, negotiated share and asset purchases, debt and equity financings for both issuers and lender/investors, and banking and insolvency. Mr. Barrett frequently serves as counsel on complex contractual and related matters. He also advises a number of corporations and their boards of directors. Mr. Barrett is a member of the Law Society of Upper Canada, the Canadian Bar Association and the County of York Law Association. He graduated with a B.Sc. from the University of Western Ontario in 1972 and graduated with his LL.B. from Osgoode Hall in 1975.

David Bookbinder is a co-founder of Marsulex Inc., Chemtrade Logistics Income Trust, Pinova Holdings, Inc., and SPI Polyols, Inc. During his career spanning more than 25 years, Mr. Bookbinder has identified and closed many investment opportunities, and subsequently realized upon them through private and public sales. Mr. Bookbinder has repositioned companies to capitalize on changing market and competitive conditions, has directed merger and acquisition and capital markets activities such as public listings and private capital-raising, and has completed the restructuring of several distressed or bankrupt companies. Mr. Bookbinder's business and Board of Directors experience is global. Mr. Bookbinder is also the Co-Founder and President of Orfund Foundation, a Canadian Registered Charity, which provides support to orphans and vulnerable children in Botswana, Africa. Mr. Bookbinder holds a Master of Science degree and is certified by the Institute of Corporate Directors (ICD.D).

Sandy Scott Sandy Scott, B.Sc., MBA, CFA

Sandy Scott began his career in Silicon Valley in 1999 as an investment banker with the CSFB Technology Group focused on software and internet transactions. He followed this with several years at Vector Capital where he invested in later stage turnaround, buyout, and spin-out opportunities and where he was extensively involved in the acquisition and turnaround of Corel Corporation. Subsequently, Sandy turned his focus to entrepreneurship with time in the digital media space at Trouvé Media and then leading sales and marketing efforts for Panjiva, a New York City technology startup focused on facilitating global trade. Mr. Scott graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science and received his MBA from Harvard Business School.

Tony Van Bommel Tony Van Bommel, LL.B, MBA
Senior Managing Partner, BDC Venture Capital

As Senior Managing Partner in BDC's Energy/Cleantech Venture Fund in the Toronto office, Tony Van Bommel is responsible for overseeing the Fund's investments and maximizing value creation across the portfolio. He has been with BDC Venture Capital since 2001 and with the Energy/Cleantech Fund since its inception in 2011, assuming the role of Managing Partner in 2012 and Senior Managing Partner in 2013. Prior to joining BDC, Mr. Van Bommel spent four years as Senior Investment Manager with InNOVAcorp, a General Partner for the Nova Scotia First Fund, an early stage knowledge-based venture fund. For 10 years prior to this, he worked as a lawyer and partner in the business law firm Little & Wright in London, Ontario. Tony has held multiple directorships in both public and private emerging growth companies across Canada. Mr. Van Bommel graduated from the University of Western Ontario with an LL.B and earned his MBA from Dalhousie University.
